    Letter from our Pastor

    Dear Friend,

Thank you for taking the time to visit us here, online to learn more about Hiawatha Bible Church. Our church has been in this community since its organization in 1940. It grew out of a mission Bible study. From 1949 until January 2002 we were known as Hiawatha Beach Church.

Our name was changed to include the word Bible because it more clearly identified our beliefs.

Believing the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, we keep it central in all of our teaching and preaching. From the Bible we understand the condition of all mankind to be hopelessly lost, spiritually dead in trespasses and sins, and helplessly unable to change. But, in God's Word we learn that...

"God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Yes, my friend, the good news is that God loved us so much that He sent His Son to pay the price for our sins - sins which separated us from God.

"-- Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures." 1 Corinthians 15:3b,4

As the solution to the problem of our sin, the Bible teaches us that all individuals need to recognize and admit their lost sinful condition. Each one must believe that Jesus Christ, God's Son, provided the only way of salvation from the penalty for sin through His death, burial, and resurrection. Then, by faith, each individual must trust Christ alone for salvation, call upon Him to save them, and confess Him as Savior and Lord.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

If you have not trusted Christ as your personal Savior, do so today. We would be happy to hear from you.
